THE BLITZ-Cambridge has been open since 2003. I became a member when I received a membership for my fiftieth birthday. My daily commute to Toronto left little time for the gym, so the 20 minute circuit appealed to me. I was stressed, overweight, and unhappy about the way I looked. I managed to fit regular workouts into my schedule and lost sixty pounds. Being active made me feel better about myself and gave me more energy. In March 2007, three years after that birthday, I took over the gym.

Q. - What is The Blitz workout?
A. - It is a 20 minute circuit training workout that involves strength training with the use of 12 hydraulic resistance machines and 6 boxing heavy bags as our cardio element. The circuit works every major muscle group, providing you with a total body workout.
Q. - Can you really get a workout in 20 minutes?
A. - Yes you can, in most clubs you spend much of your time adjusting machines or weight stacks, waiting for machines, walking form one area to another or just simply standing around. At The Blitz there is a bell that rings every 30 seconds that prompts you to go from one station to another. The 20 minute workout involves 2 laps around the 18 stations that are position next to each other. There is nothing to adjust, no waiting time and no wasted time.
Q. - Are you a boxing gym, why the boxing and the heavy bags?
A. - No we are not a boxing gym, but we use boxing skills and techniques to get you in shape. Having the 6 heavy bags distributed throughout the 20 minute workout help you get a solid cardio workout while you do your strength training. When you reach a bag within the circuit, you punch nonstop for 30 seconds. This will elevate your heart rate and the purpose is to maintain your rate rate at 70-80% of your maximum capacity throughout the 20 minutes.
Q. - Is 20 minutes 3 times a week all I can do?
A. - No, you can spend as much time as you want and as often as you want. In today's world time is a very valuable and The Blitz 20 minute workout was designed to get you the needed strength and cardio training to achieve a higher fitness level in a short period of time. Exercising for a longer period of time without overdoing it will only help you achieve your goals sooner.
Q. - Can I try The Blitz workout before I join?

Q. - Does The Blitz have showers?
Yes, we have a private changing area with lockers and showers.
